Cheri Arvonio

Event Manager

Cheri has to start each morning with coffee, coffee and more coffee before switching on for the day. Cheri’s career in events started back in 2000 when she worked on Oceanology with Versha – 17 years on, they’re still the dream team when it comes to event management! Cheri’s guilty pleasure is the Rocky films and as a child she would play her Eye of the Tiger vinyl over and over.


Versha Carter

Group Exhibition Director

Versha has been working in the industry since 1996 when she worked on Oceanology International, which at that time was held in the popular seaside town of Brighton. After taking a short break from the industry, Versha found a way back when she launched Ocean Business in 2006. After working with Caroline and Cheri ‘back in the Oceanology days’ they continue to work together on Ocean Business and Versha loves it that 17 years on they are still together! Versha states “The best part of the job is being a part of the amazing team that organises Ocean Business”.

Sophie Potten

Group Marketing Manager

Sophie is our marketing manager and can’t start the day before a nice cup of rosy lee. Sophie looks after all things marketing – branding, print, digital, PR – the lot and absolutely loves the variety of her role. After working as an account manager at marketing agencies Sophie joined the world of events at Diversified Communications UK in 2011 and hasn’t looked back since! Sophie’s guilty pleasure is watching box set dramas and when she’s not in the office you’ll find her entertaining her 2 beautiful girls.


Sheila Ramaiya

Sales Manager

Sheila’s love of events began when planning her wedding with over 600 guests! Since then, Sheila has worked on a range of corporate events and exhibitions including Offshore Europe and Oceanology until most recently joining the Ocean Business team in December 2016. When Sheila’s not working, she enjoys a drink and a dance, and has found herself out dancing with the likes of Janine from Eastenders!


Charlotte Brown

Marketing Executive

Charlotte joined the team in December 2016 as Marketing Executive. She loves that no day is the same in the office (except Oceanbuzz Tuesdays) and always kick starts a workday with a cuppa and music. Charlotte is mad for all things Disney – films, music, Disneyland – she loves it all, and as a total foodie she will no doubt be found eating out when not at work or planning her next trip abroad.


Apinya Wright

Office & Event Coordinator

Apinya has worked in the events and hospitality industry for around 10 years. She joined the team in May 2016 on a year’s contract and has now returned as a permanent team member as of September 2018. Apinya loves to keep fit, doing a least 3 bootcamps at week. Apinya is a semi-mad cat lady and has lots of interesting stories about her interesting cats which the team knows about! She also likes Gins, having a collection of 5 at home and its growing.


Caroline Hobden

Event Director

Caroline is one of the original ‘three amigos’ in the Ocean Business team and has been working on the show since it launched in 2007 and before that on Oceanology. Caroline loves the buzz of being on site and when she’s not working, you’ll find her watching live sport, skiing or going to the gym – roughly translated as sitting in the jacuzzi in the gym.


Hannah Thompson

Operations Manager 

Hannah has had a varied career, from working in the hotel industry, managing the music department of a local private school, to her most recent role as Project Manager in the Technologies’ division of an events company. You’ll find her in the gym at 6am most mornings, and subsequently eating her “breakfast salad”, before stuffing her face with copious bars of chocolate because, apparently, balance is key! She is a huge foodie, and has a monthly subscription to Good Food Magazine. Her guilty pleasures are watching awful reality TV shows (Made In Chelsea being at the top of the list) whilst drinking white wine, dancing around her living room to 80s music and singing cheesy love songs in her car.


Georgina McDonald Georgina McDonald 

Marketing Coordinator 

Joining the team in July 2018 as Marketing Coordinator, Georgina is fresh out of university after studying Event Management in Cardiff. Although Georgina is the youngest member of the team, some of her colleagues would class her as the oldest, nicknaming her ‘Granny G’ with her 9pm bedtimes. Georgina loves anything to do with chocolate, cake, home interiors, travelling and musicals and can often be found singing at the top of her voice in the office with a big slice of cake by her side.

 

 

 


Heather Davis

Conference Coordinator

Heather’s background is in publishing and joined the team officially in September working three days a week coordinating the conference, workshop and seminar programmes. She arrives most mornings with her dog Missie, a cockapoo, by her side. Heather’s guilty pleasure is Bradley Cooper. In a previous life, she was a pastry chef and worked for a bakery making a selection of sugary delights! Heather enjoys being back at a desk working with a vibrant and fun team and is enjoying the challenge of learning about events management.
