Vessels Alongside and Outside Demos

A number of exhibitors are bringing their own vessels to Ocean Business to demonstrate their equipment onboard or the actual vessel itself. They are moored on temporary pontoons that join onto the permanent NOC pontoon.

C-Worker 5
ASV Global

C-Worker 5 is an autonomous boat, designed, built and operated by ASV Global. C-Worker 5 is the ideal platform to support hydrographic survey work.

Designed as a force multiplier to enable increased coverage and minimise weather risk through reduced survey duration. C-Worker 5 is reliable through simplicity, utilising an off the shelf direct drive marine diesel propulsion system operated by ASV’s proven ASView control system. This system integrates quickly and easily with a wide variety of acquisition systems, enabling line plans to be uploaded to the system for accurate data collection.

C-Worker 5 is designed for up to 5 days endurance at survey speeds of up to 7 knots, minimising launch and recovery options and increased survey efficiency.

C-Worker 5
Kongsberg Maritime

In collaboration with ASV Global, Kongsberg Maritime will be demonstrating a variety of systems on board the C-Worker 5 ASV, including EM2040P, Seapath 130, MicroPAP and Maritime Broadband Radio. Kongsberg Maritime will run demonstrations on its Ocean Business stand, focusing on the live data collected from the KONGSBERG systems aboard the C-Worker 5.

Sonar survey equipment bought by Ports of Jersey Picture: PETER MOURANTRival
R2Sonic

Ports of Jersey (Channel Islands) owns and operates the MCA Cat 2 coded multi-role vessel ‘Rival,’ which has recently been mobilised with a comprehensive survey package delivered by Swathe Services. The capability is centred around an R2Sonic 2024 multibeam with UHR 700khz, supported by an SBG Apogee-U INS, both installed on a bespoke over-the-side mounting system designed by C4R Maritime Solutions. Valeport MiniSVS and SWiFT sensors complete the hardware setup, and Hypack – A Xylem Brand is being used for data acquisition and processing.

Operated and crewed by a highly experienced and professional team, Echo Explorer is a fully equipped Cat 2 vessel able to conduct operations out to 60nm day or night. She is a spacious, well-appointed vessel with a large working deck equipped with a Palfinger crane to assist deploying equipment from AUVs to subsea acoustic positioning and sonar imaging equipment. This can be deployed through the port and starboard moon pools or the large central moon pool & bow mounting position. Echo Explorer also offers single wireless connection whilst alongside, at sea Viprinet connection offering 3 x 4G connections utilizing overlapping networks, this provides an excellent stable connection and extended range. Echo Explorer is fitted out with a full suite of Sonardyne’s 6G navigation and positioning equipment together with and the latest Garmin satellite navigation system. Based in Plymouth she is used primarily for Sonardyne product development, training and demonstration, though she is also available for charter by third party organizations using Sonardyne equipment or independently for surveying and hydrographic use. Demonstrations will be conducted daily on Echo Explorer at Ocean Business 2017.

The M.V. Bryn is an 8.84m MCA Cat 3 coded survey vessel owned by Fugro Academy. The well proven Cygnus Cyclone hull design provides a fast stable platform with a large back deck area for the deployment of a wide variety of survey sensors. The forward wheelhouse is equipped with a full vessel navigation spread and houses the survey systems arranged over two survey benches allowing simultaneous operations by multi-disciplined crews. Teledyne RESON will be showcasing their high quality portable Multibeam Echosounder SeaBat T20-P in a dual head configuration and their powerful ultra high resolution Multibeam Echosounder SeaBat 7125 SV2.

On-water Echoscope® Demo, Wednesday 5 April

CodaOctopus® are the developers of the world’s only real-time 3D family of sonars (Echoscope®, Echoscope® XD, C500, Dimension). Real-time 3D sonars improve the efficiency, safety and effectiveness of operations delivering real benefits.

On Wednesday 5 April, they will host an on-water Echoscope® demonstration, to introduce the new Echoscope® XD and the latest version of their unique operating software Underwater Survey Explorer (USE) Version 7. The demonstration will include an on-water survey of the surrounding seabed area in real-time. This is a unique chance to experience their real-time 3D Echoscope® XD.
