Trainer Facilities

Manufacturers will demo and train delegates on a wide variety of new and existing equipment and technologies utilising the following vessels, dockside area, test tank and classroom facilities.

Vessels

RV Callista

The catamaran RV Callista is the new 19.75 metre (approx 65 ft) research vessel owned by the National Oceanography Centre. With a capacity for up to 30 passengers, a robust ‘A’ frame mounted on the stern, she is capable of deploying equipment weighing 3 tonnes. The catamaran has a working deck aft, a wet lab amidships and a dry lab forward.

Bill Conway

The Bill Conway is a 11.74 metre (approx 38.5ft) vessel with capacity for 12 passengers. Fully equipped with lifting and wire handling facilities which is essential for commercially commissioned work.

Dockside Area

The dockside demo area is located near to the exhibit hall on the dockedge. The dockedge measures 185 metres (approx 606 feet) and there is a small structure which houses the session host and the visitors so that they can watch in comfort as their equipment is being demonstrated in the water.

Test Tank

Located in an adjacent room to the exhibit hall, the test tank is 4m x 5m (approx 13ft x 16.5ft) with a depth of 2-2.4 metres (approx 6.5ft – 7.5ft). Tables, chairs and electrical sockets are provided. An overhead gantry is also available but this must be booked with the organisers in advance.

Classrooms

A range of classrooms are available - accommodating from 16 to 112 people. They are all fully equipped with data projectors, screens, tables and chairs.  The session host must provide all other equipment.
